Sparrow 59 (The Sleepers' Coalition #1)
by Devon Ashley
Summary: The Bourne Identity meets Mr. and Mrs. Smith for the New Adult crowd. Members of the CIA’s specialized team Sparrow, who investigate specifically into black market deals involving stolen medical research, were all murdered in one quick sweep. Drew and Samantha, team five-nine, have been more than just partners since their academy training days. Safeguarding their secret tryst from everyone in their professional lives, they trust no one but themselves. But when Samantha finds herself suspiciously spared and Drew missing, she doesn’t want to believe what the CIA claims – that Drew is not only alive and has defected from their organization, but is facilitating the deaths of prominent research developers worldwide. Now the only member of Sparrow who hasn’t been killed off, Samantha finds herself under serious investigation by association – and a prisoner within her own home.
Just when she’s on the verge of being labeled a murderer and a traitor herself, Drew activates a beacon only she can see, taunting her from across the world. He knows she’s watching, and she knows he could be gone forever if she doesn't oblige his silent request. With nothing left to lose and everything to gain, Sam goes rogue to track him down and clear her good name. But when she finally catches up to her partner of four years, he hasn’t a clue who he is or what he’s done, and the men chasing him down suddenly want to acquire her as well.
Frantic yet determined, Samantha is forced to protect a man she no longer trusts in order to learn why he went astray – and why his associates are determined to retrieve him. But is Drew really a victim himself in a much greater scheme, or will his memories prove lethal, leading Sam into harm’s way like a lamb to slaughter, ultimately risking the life of the only member of Sparrow he managed to save?

Review: The novel follows the two protagonists Drew and Samantha who are members of a special CIA team named Sparrow, that investigates black market deals involving stolen medical research. And their missions might even require them to steal back this stolen information.Drew and Sam are partners and so much more.Their cover is that of a married couple but in reality also they are secretly married and they've been together since the Academy days.
The book starts off with Sam dangling off a balcony while they are on one such mission. At this point itself I knew I was gonna love the book.Soon they return from the mission. But within some time all members of the Sparrow are found dead, except for Sam and it turns out that Drew is missing.Eventually, many medical researchers start turning up dead and the CIA gets proof that Drew was near each of the crime scenes. They start believing that he defected and that he killed the researchers, also that he helped in killing off the members of Sparrow.
The CIA also suspect that Sam might be helping Drew and put her under constant surveillance and confine her to her house. She doesn't want to believe what they are saying about him but as time passes she slowly starts losing hope. But one day Drew activates a special beacon which enables Sam to know his whereabouts. So, she takes a gamble and goes rogue hoping she can find out why Drew left and also clear her name in the process.
But when she finds Drew he doesn't seem to remember anything including his own name. Also he is being hunted by his (alleged)associates (the ones killing the researchers) because apparently he has stolen something from them.So Sam is now caught in a rock and hard place as she has to protect the guy she loves ,even though she doesn't trust him, and must dig up what is happening before it is too late.

I'm a big fan of Devon Ashley's writing and it isn't a surprise that I loved Sparrow 59 as well.Though I didn't love it as much as the Nearly series it still managed to surpass my expectations.I mean, come on, where else could you find a Romantic Spy thriller in the NA category??Most NA books these days have the same formulaic love stories.I loved Drew and Sam's relationship. You could see how much they loved each other. And they've only ever had each other as they both grew up and survived alone. It's also sweet that we get to see Drew fall all over for Sam for a second time. The spy stuff and the action scenes were super cool and believable!!
"He grabbed my hands with his, allowing our fingers to intermingle in a way I wished the rest of our bodies could. In a nicer reality, that was. One where we got to live out our lives in that cute little home we abandoned, had normal jobs, fought about stupid shit that didn’t really matter and eventually had two kids, a dog and a cat. Was that really so outrageous to want?"
I just wish we had more interaction with secondary characters. But I guess when you go rogue you really can't depend on anyone but yourself.I believe we'll get to see more of Lars in the second book. And speaking of the ending, what was that??Seriously Ms.Ashley!!If a certain person isn't alive in the second book I don't know what I'll do..
So, what are you guys waiting for??Enter the giveaway and go read the book!!
P.S. Advance Birthday wishes Devon!! :D
