Book Review : The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang
Series : The Kiss Quotient #3
Genre : Contemporary Romance
Publisher : Berkley
Publication Date : August 31st, 2021

A woman struggling with burnout learns to embrace the unexpected—and the man she enlists to help her—in this heartfelt new romance by USA Today bestselling author Helen Hoang.

When violinist Anna Sun accidentally achieves career success with a viral YouTube video, she finds herself incapacitated and burned out from her attempts to replicate that moment. And when her longtime boyfriend announces he wants an open relationship before making a final commitment, a hurt and angry Anna decides that if he wants an open relationship, then she does, too. Translation: She's going to embark on a string of one-night stands. The more unacceptable the men, the better.

That’s where tattooed, motorcycle-riding Quan Diep comes in. Their first attempt at a one-night stand fails, as does their second, and their third, because being with Quan is more than sex—he accepts Anna on an unconditional level that she has just started to understand herself. However, when tragedy strikes Anna’s family she takes on a role that she is ill-suited for, until the burden of expectations threatens to destroy her. Anna and Quan have to fight for their chance at love, but to do that, they also have to fight for themselves.

B&N
I stayed up all night to read this beautiful story and I have #noregrets !❣️✨
God, words aren't enough to describe how much I loved Anna and Quan! I've been waiting to read this ever since I read The Bride Test(because I loved Quan in it!)
This was even more precious and emotional than TBT! It's so raw and honest that it made me want to reach in and give Anna and Quan a hug!

Anna is a violinist who is dealing with burnout and her own mental health issues, when her boyfriend tells her that he wants to try an open relationship before settling down. Confused and hurt, she decides to have a one night stand and she meets Quan on a dating app. Quan has just recovered from cancer and has his own set of issues to deal with. They end up connecting over nature documentaries and after many tries to have a fling, they end up discovering that maybe one night might not be enough for them.

But, this was so much more than just a simple romance! I think the most beautiful part of a book is when the characters and their struggles resonate with you and make you go like 'Yeah, I know how this feels'. And I believe this story will make most feel that way. Anna was so relatable and her struggles with accepting herself and drawing boundaries while still learning to trust others were amazing to read about! Quan was always by her side and this man had so much love and unconditional acceptance to give! These two were such flawed but realistic characters who accepted each other just as they were!

The second half of the book had me feeling so emotional many times! I could feel how much effort the author put into this story and how amazingly real it was! The book would have been even more perfect if that ending had been longer, because I just didn't want this to be over!

If you've read the author's previous books, you will definitely love this one, and if you haven't read them, just give this one a try! There's no way you wouldn't end up loving Anna and Quan's story! Honestly, this is one of my favorite books from this year and it's going to be hard to top this one! ❣️✨
