Everyone knows Miz Poppy, the vibrant reviewer whose commentary brightens the New Orleans nightlife. But no one knows Hollyn, the real face behind the media star...or the fear that keeps her isolated. When her boss tells her she needs to add video to her blog or lose her job, she's forced to rely on an unexpected source to help her face her fears.

When aspiring actor Jasper Deares finds out the shy woman who orders coffee every day is actually Miz Poppy, he realizes he has a golden opportunity to get the media attention his acting career needs. All he has to do is help Hollyn come out of her shell…and through their growing connection, finally find her voice.

I finished reading Yes and I Love You by Roni Loren a while back and I'd mainly picked it up because I was seeing it on bookstagram everywhere! This is the first book that I've read from this author and I was blown away! How could I have not read any of her other books before?🙀 Anyway I'm glad I came across this now because it had the perfect mix of romance+steam+mental health representation!

Hollyn and Jasper were two characters that I absolutely adored and I loved seeing things from both of their PoVs! Nobody knows that behind Miz Poppy, the famous New Orleans blogger is Hollyn Tate. She suffers from severe anxiety and Tourette's Syndrome too and when her magazine boss tells her that she needs to do a video reveal or quit, she's stuck not knowing what to do. Enter Jasper who is the new barista at their co-working space and he also does improv. His ex-gf/improv partner had broken up with him to focus on her career and he's back in New Orleans trying to work with the improv group that he had abandoned while he figures out what to do with his life. When Jasper discovers that Hollyn is Miz Poppy, he offers to help her with her problem by giving her some improv lessons to help her with her video reveal while she could give him and his improv group an honest review to drum up some buzz. But, what will happen when an opportunity that he's been waiting for comes knocking on Jasper's door? Will he choose his career and try to prove himself or forge his own path?

Both Hollyn and Jasper are suffering from their own sets of issues - she with anxiety and Tourette's while he has ADHD, but they don't let that stop them. I love how real both of these characters were with their struggles and how they helped each other out! Everything from their initial meeting to their subsequent flirtations had me grinning like a fool and swooning! I loved how awkwardly cute they were at times, but they never judged each other! And Jasper, omg what a sweet guy, he's so accepting and cute like this little puppy that always manages to help and cheer people up. But at the same time, he doesn't seem serious/adult enough for others, but Hollyn is never dismissive of him and she believes in his potential. These two were so cute together! All those improv games with each other were hilarious+steamy!🔥
You could really see the change in Hollyn and the character development that both of them went through!

And the best part for me was that there was no stupid misunderstanding or conflict! The characters were very honest with each other and communicated everything so clearly which was a huge relief! I hate having conflicts that we could just solve with a simple conversation just to create drama, and thankfully that wasn't there here.
I could have done without that semi love triangle with her best friend Cal. I'd have preferred it if he had just been a best friend and not someone who waited around for years just because he wanted her to experience more and not be her default option(Bruh, are you kidding me?).

But that doesn't lessen my love for this book and honestly, I'm surprised by the number of contemporary romance books that I've been loving recently. Each one is unique with really great characters and stories! Please do give this one a try if you're looking for a sweet and steamy read with an added dash of humor and some amazing characters!❣️✨ And now I'm off to read book two which has one of my absolute favorite tropes - grumpy+sunshine!

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. She holds a master’s degree in social work and spent years as a mental health counselor, but now she writes full time from her cozy office in Dallas, Texas where she puts her characters on the therapy couch instead. She is a two-time RITA Award winner and a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.
