Trope Tuesday : Ice Queen Protagonists

I've got another #TropeTuesday post today featuring some of my favorite Ice Queen protagonists! Usually everyone likes the sunshine heroines or ones who are adorable and cheerful, but I will admit that most of my favorite protagonists have always been the tough, kick-ass ones.

And I have a huge soft spot for the outwardly cold protagonists - the ones who are deemed as 'Ice Queens' or robots by the people around them. The ones who threaten male egos and the ones who have high walls built around their hearts. Sometimes they're cold because of their past, sometimes they're misunderstood and sometimes it's just who they are - but I love them for it and I find them so much relatable because I see parts of myself in them. In manga or anime we'd just call characters like these 'tsundere' lol😆

I also love these books for the protagonists and their love interests as well - ones are usually patient, chipping away at their walls slowly and sometimes the complete opposite of them in terms of character. But it's a relationship that slowly develops and works so well, one where they begin to see each other differently. Plus there's so much mutual respect and admiration! So, I guess that's why I love these ones!

And why should it always be a cold, grumpy CEO guy who gets a friendly heroine to make him see the other side of things? Why can't it be a successful, kick-ass woman who meets a playful guy? Or two grumpy people who are at odds with each other?🤣

So, you can scroll to see the list along with the descriptions!

Luck Be A Lady by Meredith DuranA marriage of convenience between an 'Ice Queen' heiress and a crime lord. This is a favorite of mine from Meredith Duran! Loved the slow development of the relationship between Catherine and Nick!

Someone To Wed by Mary Balogh - Another marriage of convenience story! Wren is a talented businesswoman but somewhat of a recluse(there are reasons) and Alex is an impoverished earl in need of funds to revitalize his estate. Alex was such a kind hero and so supportive!

Book Lovers by Emily HenryOne of my fave books this year! Nora is the cut-throat literary agent known as 'The Shark' and Charlie is an equally grumpy editor whom she has a love/hate relationship with!

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews - Is it a list if I don't mention my favorite kick-ass heroine Kate Daniels? A tough, sarcastic mercenary with a complicated past. She has built such high walls around her heart, and only my favorite Beast Lord - Curran manages to get past them.

A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant - HA widow who wants an heir to protect her estate(and is willing to pay for it) + a notorious hero who accepts her proposition. The heroine is very rigid at first and it takes a while to warm up to her, but I really loved her as I discovered more about her!

By The Hour by Roni LorenA Roni Loren book that I'd forgotten I'd read and loved a few years back! An ice-cold therapist heroine and a co-worker hero who is a former escort and currently works as a sex-surrogate in the same facility.

No Rest For The Wicked by Kresley ColeThe second book in my favorite PNR series that features an emotionless valkyrie assassin and a vampire - one that she should kill - who makes her feel! The hero is such a softie and I loved him!

Last Guard by Nalini SinghAnother fave series of mine! Payal Rao is the perfect Psy - cold, calculative and disciplined. Canto is physically disabled but an important part of the PsyNet. These two have a childhood backstory and a romance that made me feel so much!

The Brutal Truth by Lee Winter - An F/F romance that has Devil Wears Prada vibes. Maddie, a crime reporter ends up falling for her new boss - Elena, who, as the blurb describes 'eats failing newspapers for breakfast.'

When Heroes Fall by Giana Darling - A mafia romance between a tough-as-nails lawyer with a painful past and a dangerous mafia capo who is her client!

See any that you've read? Or do you have any other favorites similar to this! Let me know!❣️✨
