I just finished re-reading When Gracie Met The Grump!😆 I'd read it last year in ebook format but then I wanted it in paperback too and it'd been sitting on my shelves for a few weeks and my mood was like you have to read this now, nothing else will work🤣 I guess I was slower while re-reading it this time because sometimes I can't help it and I read too fast when it's something from a fave author of mine lol(anyone else do this?).
It's a bit different from MZ's usual books as it's a superhero romance but I'd say that it's also the same in many other aspects - it's very slow burn, and still has major contemporary romance vibes to it(with the superhero/scifi stuff being just a smaller sub plot) and has a super-grumpy male lead. I mean it's in the title lol😂 I'd gone in without knowing anything the first time around. Glad to say it's the same MZ writing with a grumpy, somewhat arrogant superhero(instead of a sports star) and he still has his v card(hehe you're welcome✌🏻). The MC - Gracie was a bit different from what I was expecting. She is strong in some ways but also a bit lonely(because of her upbringing) and she cries a bit when things go wrong(she's no Jasmine or Sal for sure) but she picks herself up and knows how to work with what she's got. And when the Defender crashes and lands in her yard, she still helps him though she knows that it might make her life more difficult.
It's no easy task taking care of a superhuman being who weighs more than she can handle and is very grouchy - almost rude at times(you'll know why later). But she does manage until the trouble that she's been running away from her whole life shows up at her doorstep.
It's super slowburn as usual(no🔥 till 90% folks) and has a slow transition - strangers-friends-lovers. The banter and the relationship development was amazing as always. And I won't tell you anything else - if you like MZ's books you'll definitely enjoy this one!❣️✨

Eventually, her significant other finally told her to do what she wanted to do and she began working on her original work. Her novels tend to include potty humor, bodily functions, and bad words. Mariana lives in a small town called Pagosa Springs, Colorado with her husband/best friend, Chris Letchford, and their two well-beloved (and emotionally manipulative) Great Dane children, Dorian and Kaiser. When she’s not pretending to write, she’s reading sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk or historical romance novels. You can usually find her harassing her dogs, being a hermit at home or cracking jokes at the expense of her family members.
