Things We Hide from the Light by Lucy Score
Series : Knockemout Book #2
Genre : Contemporary Romance
Publication date : February 21st, 2023
Bestselling author Lucy Score returns to Knockemout, Virginia,
following fan-favorite Things We Never Got Over with Knox's brother
Nash's story.
Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile
and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering
from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic
attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once
was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling.
But his new next-door neighbor, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows.
As a rule, she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it,
but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. He feels it too. The
physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making
her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.
Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real
reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do
relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop?
Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to
plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no
intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under
people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to
be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.

I'd seen the Knockemout series all over bookstagram soo many times that I knew I had to give it a try! I read Things We Never Got Over and Things We Hide From The Light back to back last week(these books are so long my goodness). And I enjoyed book 2 with Nash and Lina's story a lot more!❣️✨ They're standalones but I think it's better to read them in order just to know more about the town and the characters
It's a small town romance(how cute are they?) with the chief of police Nash Morgan, who's going through some things after being shot, and his new neighbor, Lina who seems to be in town for a certain reason 🕵️♀️
They're kind of opposites with Nash, who had a dream of settling down before everything happened and Lina - who doesn't do relationships. But, they seem to help each other out in ways that neither of them had expected.
Nash was a good guy, dedicated to his job and a bit of a softie on the inside and the shooting incident has left him with some PTSD and anxiety as he tries to fake it and pretend he's fine. Lina ends up helping him out when he needs it and though she may be keeping some secrets, he finds himself drawn to her. I loved Lina - she was feisty, confident and sassy. She's fought her own share of battles which is why she's able to relate to Nash and she makes him comfortable enough that he feels alright being vulnerable with her and I liked that. I loved watching them open up to each other when both of them were usually closed off. The romance is a bit of a slow-burn and I enjoyed the push-pull though Nash does some typical alphahole stuff at times(not as much as Knox). Also why can't these brothers rest for a few chapters without throwing their fists at each other?🤣
I loved the bit of suspense in the background with the investigation and stuff about the Hugo guy. Made it more interesting! And the secondary characters were delightful as always 😆 I'm really excited for Sloane and Lucian's book(I have a feeling that it might be even better than this one!)❣️✨
