Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can't seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

I love books with animals/pets in them especially ones that play a huge role plot-wise!❣️✨ Not only are they cute and add more to the fun but also play such a huge role in making the characters' lives better - and I'd say it's the same for many irl! I've found all of the furry friends in authorabbyjimenez 's books so adorable and they bring some of our characters together in unexpected ways and also make everything better! 😍⁣
And I had so much fun listening to the audiobook of The Happy Ever After Playlist over the last few days and I loved the narrators - especially Zachary Webber for Jason's chapters.⁣
THEAP starts off with Sloan - who lost her fiance two years back, meeting Tucker - the adorable dog who jumps into her car 🐕. She tries to contact his owner, but doesn't get a response at first. When she decides to keep Tucker, his owner Jason who's a musician on tour in Australia ends up responding to her and they start off chatting with each other and it soon turns into something more.⁣
Sloan and Jason had such a wonderful connection and I loved listening to their conversations. It felt so natural to me and I loved the slow development of their relationship from strangers to dog sitter/friends(🤣) and more. Jason was cute, confident and just the right amount of flirty(without being sleazy lol) and it was so hard not to fall for him - obviously Sloan felt the same way. She's wary at first but Jason is persistent and charming, and is the only one who has made her feel this comfortable since her fiance Brandon's death. And I loved how Tucker was the one who brought her out of the grief that she'd sunk into. It's gradual but I loved watching her slowly make her way back into the world!⁣
The second half went into rockstar romance territory with a bit more angst. Sloan and Jason tried to make it work, with compromises on both sides that I admired, and though I wasn't a fan of the way he handled some things, it ended in a satisfactory manner and I loved the epilogue (obviously 😆).⁣
P.S. Swipe to see a closeup of my origami dog because Tucker is the cutest character!
