Book Review : I Kissed An Earl by Julie Anne Long

I Kissed An Earl by Julie Anne Long
Series : Pennyroyal Green #4
Genre : Historical Romance
Publisher : Avon
Publication date : June 29th, 2010

Violet Redmond's family and fortune might be formidable and her beauty and wit matchless—but her infamous flair for mischief keeps all but the most lionhearted suitors at bay. Only Violet knows what will assuage her restlessness: a man who doesn't bore her to tears, and a clue to the fate of her missing brother. She never dreamed she'd find both with a man whose own pedigree is far from impeccable.

"Savage" is what the women of the ton whisper about the newly styled Earl of Ardmay—albeit with shivers of pleasure. Born an English bastard, raised on the high seas, he's on a mission to capture a notorious pirate for vengeance. But while Violet's belief in her brother's innocence maddens him, her courage awes him . . . and her sensuality finally undoes him. Now the man who once lost everything and the girl who has everything to lose are bound by a passion that could either end in betrayal . . . or become everything they ever dreamed.

I love Julie Anne Long's books and though I went through The Palace Of Rogues series in order, it was the opposite for the Pennyroyal Green books - I didn't wait to read 9 books to find out Lyon and Olivia's story 😆(yes, I'm that impatient sometimes😶) and I'd gone through the rest in a random order till I had only I Kissed An Earl and How The Marquess Was Won left. So, I Kissed An Earl was my first read of March and oh my goodness it was perfect 😍 Also, let's take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the cover is! Definitely a #coverlustfriday favorite of mine!⁣
Violet Redmond is pretty, privileged and sought out by everyone in society, and she's bored of everything. When she stumbles upon the news that the pirate Le Chat might be her missing brother, she decides to stowaway on Asher Flint's ship - and he's also the newly minted Earl of Ardmay who has been tasked with capturing Le Chat.⁣
Violet was such an interesting character - she's a bit entitled, pampered, and loved by society but also bored by it. Though she follows the rules she also breaks them mischievously once in a while - in a way that everyone remembers. She's also quite brave and extremely loyal - especially to her family. And when she loves, she gives it her all. It was quite the thing to see her go from calling Flint 'savage' to defending him when someone else does.⁣
Asher is her opposite in terms of background and experience, but very few things make him interested enough to put down his walls. Though he's unimpressed by her entitlement in the beginning, but her determination and wit do draw his admiration. It was lovely to see these two fall for each other slowly(such a good slow burn romance!)⁣

JAL's writing is so amazing and she always has such well developed and complex characters that I end up falling in love with! I'd highly recommended this and The Palace of Rogues series as they're some of my faves!❣️✨
