When a woman who'd rather do anything than read meets a swoon-worthy bookworm, sparks fly, making for one hot-summer fling in New York Times bestselling author Jenn McKinlay's new rom-com.

For Samantha Gale, a summer on Martha's Vineyard at her family's tiny cottage was supposed to be about resurrecting her career as a chef, until she's tasked with chaperoning her half-brother, Tyler. The teenage brainiac is spending his summer at the local library in a robotics competition, and there's no place Sam, who's dyslexic, likes less than the library. And because the universe hates her, the library's interim director turns out to be the hot-reader guy whose book she accidentally destroyed on the ferry ride to the island.

Bennett Reynolds is on a quest to find his father, whose identity he's never known. He's taken the temporary job on the island to research the summer his mother spent there when she got pregnant with him. Ben tells himself he isn't interested in a relationship right now. Yet as soon as Sam knocks his book into the ocean, he can't stop thinking about her.

An irresistible attraction blossoms when Ben inspires Sam to create the cookbook she's always dreamed about and she jumps all in on helping him find his father, and soon they realize their summer fling may heat up into a happily ever after.

Samantha Gale is a chef who has just returned to Martha's Vineyard for the summer to chaperone her teen half brother Tyler so that their parents can enjoy their trip. They don't know that she's actually quit her job and is searching for a way to get her career back on track. So, it's quite a surprise when she runs into Ben, who is the interim director of the library, after throwing his book into the ocean(accidentally of course 🤣). They're opposites with Ben being an avid reader(who hates cooking) while Sam is dyslexic and isn't too keen on reading. At the same time, Ben is also trying to find out the identity of his father and Sam ends up helping him.

I think this is the first book that I've read with a dyslexic FMC(who also has ADHD)🤔 I've read a few with dyslexic male MCs but none with an FMC like this, so I loved seeing how this has shaped her experiences. It has also made her more observant and skilled at managing things in different ways but there's still a lot of emotional baggage that she needs to come to terms with. So, I loved the way her relationship with Ben developed slowly. And I loved how Ben started reading books out loud to her everyday(including the steamy scenes).

The sibling relationship between Sam and Tyler was another highlight and I loved how they grew closer over the course of the book. Sam's best friend Em is pretty amazing too! The third act drama pulled me away for a bit and I think it could have been better if it was a dual pov in that part🤔 But the reason Sam shone in this one was because of the single pov and I loved her character growth!

Anyway, I really enjoyed this one so do pick it up if you're looking for a fun, summer read with a beautiful New England setting and some amazing characters!❣️✨
