Bed Me Baron by Felicity Niven
Series : Bed Me #2
After twenty-two years, someone has to make a move.
Lady Phoebe Finch, the youngest of the Duke of Abingdon's daughters, is done waiting. She's a grown woman and ready to be a wife and a mother. If it means giving up on the man she's loved all her life, so be it!
Baron Danforth taught Lady Phoebe Finch to walk when she was one. He taught her chess when she was eight. He's like a big brother to her, surely. But when his dear Phoebe comes to him for bedding lessons, George Danforth must confront the truth—his best and oldest friend is not only the most alluring woman in the world, she's also the love of his life.
And she's engaged. To a man that's not him.
When you've blundered everything, stalemate isn't an option.
When I read the blurb for this one, I jumped to sign up for
the ARC and I'm glad I did because it was amazing!😆
I've read all kinds of historical romance books but this is my first
time coming across one with a bald hero and I was very surprised by
that🤣 And it was a bit angstier than I thought it'd be(I'm a wimp
when it comes to angst alright🙈) but in a good way - because it
felt very emotional and real! I think this is mainly because the
author is a very talented writer and the characters feel so real and
flawed. Like I'm still thinking about Phoebe and George even though
it's been many days since I finished reading this one.
In a nutshell, this is a childhood friends to lovers story between
Lady Phoebe and Baron Danforth(George) which starts off with
Phoebe's bet where she asks for bedding lessons when she wins a
chess game against him. But, the twist is Phoebe is already engaged
to a duke. And she just wants to be ready by being prepared in all
aspects 😂 And George's world is flipped upside down. But, will it
be too late for both of them?
It might not make sense at first(I wondered whether Phoebe was too
naive), but as the story progresses, we get to find out more about
these characters. George isn't good at expressing his feelings and
always seems to say the wrong thing and Phoebe is very adept at
hiding her feelings while allowing others to shape her character.
The connection between them felt very real and I don't think I need
to mention how steamy this one was 😉😂 Personally I do think that
Phoebe should have gotten some alone time to discover herself, but I
think it worked out well in the end. I'm quite excited for the next
book in the series too(that snippet at the end was so good!) and
I'll be going through the rest of the author's backlist while I wait
for that one!

Felicity Niven is a hopeful romantic. Writing Regency romance is her third career after two degrees from Harvard. And you know what they say about third things? Yep, it’s a charm. She splits her time between the urban South in the winter and the cool Great Lakes in the summer and thinks there can be no greater comforts than a pot of soup on the stove, a set of clean sheets on the bed, and a Jimmy Stewart film on a screen in the living room. She is the author of The Bed Me Books series (Bed Me, Duke and Bed Me, Baron, etc.) and The Lovelocks of London series: When Ardor Blooms (prequel novella), Convergence of Desire, Clandestine Passion, and A Perilous Flirtation. Subscribers to her newsletter receive free second epilogues, prequels, and stories.
