Nothing will get in the way of Millie Price’s dream to become a Broadway star. Not her lovable but super-introverted dad, who after raising Millie alone, doesn’t want to watch her leave home to pursue her dream. Not her pesky and ongoing drama club rival, Oliver, who is the very definition of Simmering Romantic Tension. And not the “Millie Moods,” the feelings of intense emotion that threaten to overwhelm, always at maddeningly inconvenient times. Millie needs an ally. And when a left-open browser brings Millie to her dad’s embarrassingly moody LiveJournal from 2003, Millie knows just what to do. She’s going to find her mom.

There’s Steph, a still-aspiring stage actress and receptionist at a talent agency. There’s Farrah, ethereal dance teacher who clearly doesn’t have the two left feet Millie has. And Beth, the chipper and sweet stage enthusiast with an equally exuberant fifteen-year-old daughter (A possible sister?! This is getting out of hand). But how can you find a new part of your life and expect it to fit into your old one, without leaving any marks? And why is it that when you go looking for the past, it somehow keeps bringing you back to what you’ve had all along?

I think I've discovered another author to add to my YA favorites list! I'd had this one on my tbr for a long time and I finally got around to reading it this weekend šŸ˜‚ and can you believe that I finished reading it in like 3 hours? It was so much fun! I haven't watched many musicals so I don't know much about them, but Millie's love for them was contagious and it was hard not to love her too!⁣
Millie Price has just been accepted into a precollege program that'll help her realize her dreams of becoming a Broadway star. But her dad isn't too keen on her going out of state and wants her to take some time before she makes decisions about her future. Miffed about his refusal and in search of a way to get things back on track, Millie stumbles upon her dad's angsty LiveJournal from his college days. And she decides to search for her birth mom who had left her on her dad's doorstep. She's got it narrowed down to three candidates and decides to approach them in different ways and this results in an unexpected internship, a dance class and many other shenanigans šŸ˜† And there's also her drama club rival - Oliver who is competing with her for the internship! But Millie is determined to not let anything get in the way of achieving her dreams!⁣
Everything about this book was cute and fun - from the Mamma Mia inspired plot to the vibrant and lively characters! Millie was such a confident and expressive MC and I loved her so much! But she was also a realistic teen in many ways with her emotions and how she approached things. While she searches for her mom she discovers new things about herself and others too! Honestly there wasn't a single character that I disliked in this one because they were all so lovable and well developed - from Oliver to Millie's bestfriend Teddy and her new friend Chloe. Her three potential moms were fun toošŸ˜† I'd kinda guessed the twist halfway but I loved how things worked out! In the end, this was a joyful and vibrant story that you'll definitely love too - especially if you're a musical or Mamma Mia fan!❣️✨
