A charming and wildly funny new romantic comedy by Kerry Rea, author of The Wedding Ringer.

Lucy Rourke has two great loves in her life: the gorilla troop she cares for as a primatologist and the laundry list of reality TV shows she watches to escape the fact that her actual love life doesn’t exist. And like a reality contestant gunning for the final rose, Lucy’s laser-focused on one thing: getting promoted to head keeper. So when a wildlife docuseries hosted by hotshot TV personality Kai Bridges chooses her zoo as its summer filming location, she sees an opportunity to showcase her beloved gorillas to the world and land a starring role in her department.

When Kai and his film crew arrive, however, it's obvious to Lucy that Kai cares more about sky-high ratings than the gorillas, and he considers her a camera-averse know-it-all whose wardrobe consists entirely of khaki. But she’s surprised to discover there’s more to him than his rugged good looks and cheesy catchphrases...and that maybe a promotion isn’t the only thing she wants. But when secrets from their pasts threaten to complicate everything, Lucy discovers that happiness and success aren’t the same thing—and that finding joy just might mean getting a little wild.

I don't think I've ever read a book that featured a zookeeper as the MC(I have complicated feelings about zoos) so this was a first for me and surprisingly I was drawn into it quickly!⁣
Lucy Rourke works as a primatologist at the zoo and loves her gorilla troop more than anything else in this world. She's also aiming for a promotion to senior primate keeper and when her zoo is chosen as the location for a popular wildlife docuseries, it presents a chance for her to showcase her beloved gorilla troop while introducing an orphaned member for another zoo to them. But her stage fright and aversion to cameras make things even more difficult, especially after meeting(and offending 😂) the docuseries host - Kai Bridges, who's also the son of Lucy's idol. ⁣
The awkwardness and embarrassment in the beginning had me laughing so hard🤣 Lucy and Kai have a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe at first(frankly it was all because of Lucy's actions) but I love how their relationship shifted as they spent more time with each other. It was hard not to feel sympathy for Lucy as I got to know more about her and she's definitely a flawed character and I think that made her character development stand out more! Her passion for her job shone through everything and made me fall in love with these gorillas too 🦍 and I shed some tears near the end. Those random animal facts were so much fun and silly😂⁣
Both Lucy and Kai had mommy issues and I appreciated that they weren't magically fixed. I think I ended up loving almost all of the characters and how real they felt. The third act breakup was the only thing that had me feeling a bit differently but it was hard not to feel sorry for Lucy given the circumstances! In the end, this was both funny and cute with some serious issues woven in and I'm really excited to read more from this author as I've enjoyed this one and her other book - The Wedding Ringer too!❣️✨
