I have quite a few underrated faves that I don't see featured on bookstagram or elsewhere and one of them is Cassandra Gannon! I've read almost all of her books and the Elemental Phases series and A Kinda Fairytale series are my faves(all of them are on KU)!❣️✨ The latter is a set of fairytale retellings with the bad guys getting their HEAs and honestly I love everything about it! These books are so hilarious and bonkers at times but they also have such well-developed characters with some surprising elements and nice twists! The romance is amazing with fated mates elements but the characters learn to love each other slowly.
And the latest release - Happily Ever Witch was more fun and crazier than the previous books in the series, but in a way that made complete sense because it's set in Wonderland 😂 We have Esmeralda the wicked witch who has landed in Wonderland after falling through a rabbit hole. As much as she'd like to get out of the place, she's been arrested for turning Alice into a log(it's not her fault, her magic misfired 😂) and she's forced to wake up a sleeping dragon - who's one of the worst villains in their world. Trevelyan is on the top of everyone's kill list but he doesn't care. In fact, he enjoys it 😂 And he holds a lot of grudges too - especially against Marrok, Ez's adoptive brother. But now both of them are trapped in an enchanted castle with no way out. You can imagine the chaos that ensues when a wicked witch and a dragon get together!
Both Ez and Trev were so funny and amazing together! I loved their sarcastic banter and how protective they were of each other! Also, I couldn't stop laughing at so many points because some scenes were really hilarious - especially the court trial one 🤣 The setting has some crazy elements at first but I was in awe when everything clicked together to make sense! And Ez's wonky magic makes it even more fun! Trev had a really great redemption arc too but without losing any of his 'badness'. Honestly, I had such a fun time reading this one and being back again in this world!❣️✨
