B&N
I've been waiting for the newest addition to this series and this novella was perfect!😍 It's also got some amazing spooky vibes with two MCs who are trapped together in a haunted castle!⁣
Poppy Dyer has been unable to utilize her innate powers for many years as she thinks she's been cursed. When she's told that she might find a solution to her problem at a haunted castle that opens only once a in few years on a full moon Halloween night, she decides to take a chance and go there - despite the dangers. Surprisingly, she also finds Rök Kours, a smoke demon who seems to have come there for a purpose. But they share a history that started on their first(and only) date which was pretty amazing but ended abruptly when Rök was summoned away. Now they're stuck together in this castle that's filled with dangers and nightmarish creatures, and they need to find their way out quickly.⁣
This was so much fun and I love novellas like these that have just the right amount of romance and plot development! It's also quite unique when compared to the other books in the series with the spookier vibes and setting, but Poppy and Rök were just as amazing as the other IAD MCs - with their witty banter and protectiveness when it comes to their mates 😆⁣
Poppy was kickass, independent and knew exactly what she wanted. Rök was the perfect match for her with his cockiness and humor, but he also had a vulnerable side. Both of them bonded over their shared love for horror movies - which was quite cute. And the tidbits + references to the different movies and tropes made it even more enjoyable! They also took the time to communicate and address their issues as they grew closer, so the relationship development didn't feel rushed to me either.⁣
The last few chapters were fantastic with Poppy becoming even more confident as she discovers her powers(and I loved how the book title ties into this😆). And we also get some hints about what might be coming next which makes me soo excited to read the next book!❣️✨
