Publisher : Berkley
Publication Date July 2nd, 2024
A recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room, scoring a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on earth before ten days are up…

If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, but now she’s standing in her ‘shine like a star’ nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her.

As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is until someone comes running out of a door, yelling something about a huge mistake, and sends the dreamy stranger back down to earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.

When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to earth and reconnect with the mysterious stranger, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start at life. But in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind…

I had so much fun listening to this audiobook! The cute cover and the unique premise definitely caught my eye 😆⁣
Delphie has just died after choking on a burger(what a way to go 🫣) and she ends up in the afterlife waiting room where she meets a super cute guy - and sparks fly. Just when she's beginning to think that things might not be so bad after all, he disappears instantly - turns out it was a mistake and he wasn't actually dead😶(good for him, but not for Delphie😂). So, her quirky and chatty 'Afterlife Therapist' - Merritt(who loves romance novels) decides to bend the rules and offers her a second chance at life - but only if Delphie is able to find and kiss this stranger within ten days of returning. She doesn't know anything about him except for his first name. It shouldn't be that hard to find him right?😂 ⁣
This book was so delightful and funny with some emotional moments too! Delphie was a multifaceted character - she was a little grumpy and a recluse but also very funny and quirky at the same time. Once we get to know more about her past, it was hard not to feel sorry for her. But she does go through a lot of character development - and that was definitely a highlight. Also, there were so many embarrassing moments that had me laughing out loud and Sophia Oxenham's narration made it even more enjoyable! ⁣
The romance in this one was very sweet too(no spoilers!) but I'd say that Delphie's journey was definitely the focus here and I absolutely loved the found family in this one! Delphie's relationship with Mr.Yoon was so adorable and it was so nice to see her slowly open up and let new people into her life!⁣
If you're looking for a fun rom-com with a touch of magical realism mixed with some hilarious moments, I'd definitely recommend this one!❣️✨
