When the city's playboy hero needs a bodyguard... sparks fly!
Tony Lazarus is a hero who seems to have everything. Movie star good looks, lethal skill, money, and women falling at his feet. But appearances can be deceiving. Behind the million dollar smile is a man losing the battle against his sin of gluttony… Alcohol and drugs were his life until a chance encounter placed him at the wrong end of sassy security agent’s ire.
He pulled his life back on track, but now he has a new addiction.
Her name is Bailey Haze, and she is his mate.

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment because I finished this one within a few hours of starting it and now I have to wait (im)patiently for the next one! 😶
Tony has finally gotten his own book and I'm so relieved that things have finally turned around for him! Though he has managed to get past his addiction there is still the emptiness that gnaws away at him. And it doesn't help that most people, including his family, don't see beyond the carefree mask that he puts up. When a stalker starts targeting him, he gets a new bodyguard who is also his mate!
Too bad that Bailey Haze doesn't seem to care about his appeal or flirtations. In fact, she doesn't want anything do with him! Or does she?
Tony was a hoot in this one and I loved getting to know the man beneath the carefree mask! It really irritated me at first when noone seemed to even expect much from him. It's like they were just setting him up to fail, but I guess I can understand that after all the time that he's spent pretending to not care, they just don't want to be disappointed again!
"No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop them from cutting him. The sad thing was, she'd been right. He knew nothing. He was a smile on a face and a dick on legs. A monkey who danced to someone else's beat."
But, I'm so glad that Tony got a chance to show himself in this one! The character development was amazing and so was his relationship with Bailey! I loved how they brought out the best in each other! At the beginning they didn't have much beyond their attraction to each other, but slowly a relationship based on trust and mutual admiration began to develop! Bailey doesn't really like Tony at first and doesn't expect much from him just like everyone else. But, slowly as Tony sheds his layers she sees him for the man he really is.
She slid her arm over his front, hooked her leg over his, pressed her lips onto his hot neck, right beneath his ear, and whispered, "I see you Tony Lazarus. I see the real you, and I'm not going anywhere."
And I loved those scenes with the kids at the sobriety house! Also, it was great that there wasn't too much drama or angst about the Deadly Seven identity thing with Bailey. She quickly figures it out and helps Tony gain control of his powers! Plus, on top of everything we've got a mutant killer plant on the loose and the Syndicate coming up with more disgusting plans! There's also Despair, the lost Lazarus sibling, who is slowly beginning to question the motivations of the Syndicate, but is also unsure of leaving them!
As always I loved the familial relationships of the Lazarus brood! They're quick to judge and annoy each other at times, but they're also unfailingly loyal and always there for each other!
"You realize what this means, don't you?"
"What?"
"You're an actual star."
Liza's book is next and we already know who is her mate after reading Gluttony, so I'm super excited for this! I can't wait to see how her mate might be the embodiment of the opposite of her sin(which is lust) and how the author takes it from there!
