He bargained with her to break his curse. She stole his heart instead.
Rush is a Fae Guardian, a wolf-shifter whose enhanced abilities have made him a ruthless protector of Elphyne. His job is to protect the realm from the human enemy, and to ensure the sins of the past never come to pass again lest magic die forever. But one night of weakness resulted in a curse worse than death – exile. He now spends his lonely time longing to be part of the living, once again protecting them from monsters… until one washes up on the shores of his lake.
Clarke is human. She’s beautiful, feisty, and fierce. She’s also the only person who can see him, speak to him, and touch him.
If he hands her over to the Order, she’s his ticket to having his curse removed. The more he learns about this human enemy, the more he realizes she’s not the monster he’s been trained to believe. In fact, she’s capable of inciting passion he’d never dreamed possible again, but Clarke has a message from the past… sins are already repeating. This time, if they don’t stop the coming evil, it won’t just be magic that dies. It will be everything.
The Witcher meets Beauty and the Beast in this gripping, epic fantasy featuring steamy romance, a dash of time travel, a band of brothers, shifters, fae protectors and their strong willed women from our time. If you love your books full of page turning action, intrigue, and romantic tension then this book is for you. For fans of Kristen Ashley’s Fantastical series or Sarah J Maas’s adult fantasy romance.
This was an amazing start to a new series! I love all kinds of beauty and the beast stories, so I was excited for this one as soon as I read the blurb(and how beautiful is that cover)! Lana Pecherczyk is really good at creating unique worlds with fascinating characters! I love her Deadly Seven books!
The Longing of Lone Wolves is set in a futuristic fantasy world, where the fae dominate what's left of the earth now - Elphyne! Humans are the enemies, living away from the fae with just one city to themselves. The earth was ravaged by the humans as a result of a nuclear war and it's the fae who have managed to restore nature. And their source of mana(magic) is the Well.
We meet Clarke, the protagonist, as she wakes up in an unknown place and all she remembers is holing up in her Vegas apartment with her friends, watching the apocalyptic news.
Rush is a Fae Guardian and a wolf shifter, who has been cursed to live unseen, unheard and cut off from the Well for almost a century. When he ends up rescuing Clarke from some Fae attackers, he finds out that she can interact with him! In exchange for helping her, he bargains with her so that she'll be his voice.
Both Rush and Clarke were pretty complex characters, each with their own sets of issues that they need to battle through! Though they feel the attraction from the moment they meet each other, trust is something that takes time to grow and I loved how the relationship developed between them! The sexual tension was sooo good and I had no complaints in the steam department!
His fiery gaze snapped to hers. “Because you are a dream , Clarke. Never in my wildest did I imagine a female like you coming into my life. Before you came, I’d given up. Even when you saw me at my vilest, you didn’t leave. I have been cruel to you, and for that I will never be sorry enough. But you came back.”
The world-building was pretty fantastic and unique! We get to meet many of the key players!
All in all, this was a solid first book and I'm really eager to read more about the characters! Looks like the next book is Thorne's and I'm really excited for it!

Lana Pecherczyk is a freckle-faced writer from Perth, Western Australia. She’s a fan of 'pro-caffeinating' and writes in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Basically if it’s got sexy heroes, thrilling action and a kick-ass heroine, you know she’ll write it because she loves reading it. When she’s not writing the next great novel, or wrangling the rug rats, or rescuing GI Joe from the jaws of her Kelpie, she fights evil by moonlight, wins love by daylight and never runs from a real fight. You can find her books on Amazon and other good online retailers.
