Genres : Vigilante/Superhero Romance, Urban Fantasy
Publication Date : November 23rd, 2020

Lies among friends…
Liza Lazarus’s devotion to the law is only eclipsed by her loyalty to her vigilante family. The tough, no-holds-barred, city detective crushes it on the outside, but on the inside, she’s losing a battle for her sanity and heart. Sensing lust makes her physically sick. It’s great for catching rapists and murderers, but for finding love? Impossible. Then a childhood friend comes crashing back into her life, and she finds the impossible isn’t so out of reach… if they can get past decades worth of lies between them.

Love among enemies…
FBI Special Agent Joe Luciano has been in love with Liza since they were kids. The kind of soul-wrenching, heart-clobbering love that can send a man insane... except she only ever saw him as a friend. When a secret investigation brings him right into the Lazarus family war-zone, he learns they’re not as virtuous as he once believed. They’re the very criminals he’s been hunting. The more embroiled he becomes with Liza and her vigilante family, the more his black and white world crumbles until he’s forced to make an impossible choice… arrest her, or love her.

Betrayal among family…
As a child, Despair Lazarus was forsaken by her family, and left to the mercy of the evil Syndicate. She became a brutal, heartless warrior, and the Lazarus family never forgave themselves. So when she finally comes knocking at their door, they welcome her with open arms, blind to the danger they’ve invited into their midst. With the Syndicate, old enemies, and the FBI closing in on her family’s secrets, Liza must learn to control her new deadly powers and piece together where the real danger lies… with her lover, her long-lost sister, or herself.

I had been waiting for this book for quite a while and I'm glad that I could finally get my hands on it. If you've read my reviews of the other books in the series, then you'd know that I'm obsessed with the two siblings - Liza and Parker and coincidentally these two are the last ones to find their mates among the Lazarus brood and get a book. Lol!😂

Anyway, Lust features Liza's story and after the ending of the previous book, we knew that Joe - her childhood best friend, was going to be her mate. But, she embodies the sin - lust and it's pretty much impossible to find someone who displays the qualities that could be the opposite of that(this was how the other siblings found their mates). So, Liza has never had much hope, to begin with, and as her condition with her sin-sensing gets worse day by day, she's resigned herself to a bleak ending. She's envious of her siblings who have found their happiness, but she doesn't know what to do to find hers.
And just as she's going to give up her childhood bestie - Joe Luciano returns back to town. While he's working on a case that she isn't allowed to find out about, she also realizes that he's clearly avoiding her and this sets her off like a firecracker. But, only when she pushes his boundaries she realizes that he isn't the little boy that she knew anymore and he has changed in a lot of ways. This also makes her realize that she might have ignored certain feelings that she never knew about and it might end up changing their relationship in unprecedented ways.

Before I say anything else, let me just take a moment to appreciate Lana Pecherczyk's writing and the way she creates such awesome characters that are so different and unique in their own ways! Liza and Sloane might be the only two sisters among the group of Lazarus siblings, but they're completely different from each other and their childhood experiences have also been different. I loved seeing the tiny snippets from Liza and Joe's childhood and watching the bond that they had with each other transform into something that was stronger and more fulfilling.

When they were kids they were very close with each other and Joe had his set of family issues too, but they always had each other's backs. As she never sensed any lust in him, she had wrongly assumed that Joe was some kind of asexual guy who never felt desire, which led her to make some teasing comments, much to Joe's frustration. And the irony is that it was never liked that. Joe had always loved her, but due to her snide comments and interference from her brothers, he couldn't even express his feelings in an honest manner and was left to pine for her. (Can you smell the sweet scent of pine? Lol. Pining heroes are my fave, I'm telling ya!)

"Fate had brought him back to Cardinal City, back to her— his sweet poison, killing him softly. All he knew for certain was that he wouldn’t die without a proper taste. A banquet."

It was quite nice to see the changes in him and the increase in his confidence! The way they put aside their misunderstandings and communicated with each other was also amazing. Not only was the chemistry between them off the charts, but the amount of trust that they had in each other was equally awesome! Also, compared to other siblings, both Liza and Joe are more straightforward and like to play on the right side of the law. Since, Liza is a detective she likes to do things using the law, instead of vigilantism like the others. And I loved discovering all these characteristics that were hidden beneath the carefree facade that she puts up for everyone! Joe also unconditionally supported her while putting aside the FBI case that would investigate her family. These two are total couple goals!

It was also quite nice meeting the other family members and their mates again in this book. These bunch of siblings always have each other's back, even if they're constantly bickering and playing around. Additionally, they've also got an amazing set of parents, ready to give advice whenever they need it. The only sorry one among the bunch is Daisy(Despair) who was left behind in the lab when they were kids and she might be approaching them in a suspicious manner, but they still manage to put aside things as in the end she's still their sister. It was nice seeing things from her POV and she does manage to turn things around after her betrayal. I hope she gets her happy ending soon, but I know that I'll have to wait a while for that.

The next book in the series is going to be Parker's story and we got to find out about his mate at the end of this one, and can you tell how excited I am for my favorite Deadly Seven brother to get his book?!
If you have read the previous books in the series don't miss out on reading Lust! And if you haven't come across this series yet, make sure to check it out as you'll definitely not be disappointed!
